We turn period talks into fun and educational experiences enjoyed by both kids and their adults alike.
That’s what inspired me to start The Period Academy – I naturally feel comfortable talking about exactly what happens during a period, and realized I could help my friends start that conversation with their kids in a way that is straightforward, comfortable, and even fun.
Hi, I’m Al! I am a registered nurse and have spent 10 years working in women’s reproductive health. I’m also a mom to two little girls.
I’m passionate about empowering people in all walks of life to know how their body works and to feel comfortable in it.
My goal with The Period Academy is to introduce your kids to what a period is. To let them ask questions and answer them honestly. To demystify and desensitize the process, the products, the blood, and the discomforts that come along with it.
We believe in full transparency, and we want you to feel at ease and well-informed about the items we’ll cover in the period talk.
You can explore our entire curriculum in advance so you’ll know exactly what to expect.

Our period talks provide a positive and fun experience that strengthens your relationship and empowers your kid.
In addition, they create a lasting connection and allow kids to see that periods are perfectly natural and nothing to be shy about.
We’re passionate about creating a safe space for kids to ask questions and learn about this normal part of life. Let us help you kick off the conversation with our clear, accurate, and approachable period talk.

No, the period talk does not include any discussion of reproduction or sex. Our focus is solely on the menstrual cycle itself—what a period is, how it works, and how to manage it.
Absolutely. We encourage dads, grandpas, brothers, and any supportive male figures to attend. The more they know, the better they can provide understanding, guidance, and support during this important transition. Inclusivity and education are key to fostering a supportive environment for everyone.
A period talk for private groups like schools, a group of friends, or Girl Scouts helps kids learn about their bodies in a fun and friendly way, building confidence and making the topic feel less intimidating.
Plus, being within a trusted community provides a relaxed setting, making it easier for them to feel good about what they’re learning.
